Coaching for College Students

Just as moving from middle to high school required you to suddenly find classrooms on the other side of the building and have multiple teachers and notebooks, the transition to college is a whole other level of newness!

If you’re living away from home, the FREEDOM is often fantastic.

Yet at the same time, you’re suddenly responsible for tracking things that you were previously reminded about – things like remembering to take your medications on time, doing your laundry before you run out of socks, or even waking up!  On top of that, you’re adjusting to more challenging assignments and a different type of schedule with random free time to decide what to do with.

If you’re managing just fine, that’s great. But if you find yourself procrastinating, feeling pressured, or starting to get lower grades, you might consider coaching.

How it Works

I work by Skype or phone.  It’s important to have a place where you can talk openly and don’t need to worry about bothering anyone around you. This can be a challenge if you have roommates, but most students can find a quiet lounge or a time when they know their roommate’s in class.

Here are some of the things we focus on in coaching:

  • Checking in about any worries or concerns
  • Reviewing your assignments (current and long-term)
  • Prioritizing and breaking down large assignments into achievable steps
  • Talking through any roadblocks (like not even knowing where to start)
  • Working with your natural tendencies while increasing your awareness of how ADHD impacts you
  • Learning to organize your schedule – aiming for balance between classes, studying, socializing, activities and taking care of yourself
  • Increasing your overall confidence and success!

It’s my goal is to reduce your level of stress and see you succeed.  By talking things over, coming up with workable strategies, and learning to stick to a plan – you can make solid decisions and will see the results.  I welcome the opportunity to work with you.
